WRAS - What is WRAS? Any water fitting, which when installed, will carry or receive water from the public mains water supply in the UK, must comply with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations or Scottish Byelaws. These require that a water fitting should not cause waste, misuse, undue consumption or contamination of the water supply and must be ‘of an appropriate quality and standard’. WRAS Approval is the easiest way to demonstrate compliance as it is granted directly by representatives of the water suppliers and is therefore accepted by every water supplier in the UK. Although there are other methods of certification accepted throughout the EU WRAS Product Approval: Whole products such as valves, boilers & showers undergo mechanical and water quality testing. This type of approval demonstrates full compliance with requirements of the regulations and byelaws, provided the fitting is installed according to any conditions given with the approval. DVGW DVGW (Germany) DVGW: (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water) is the largest gas and water industry certification body in Europe DVGW-Certification is to ensure that materials and products have the. required safety, fitness for use, functionality, quality, hygiene and. environmental compatibillity for use in contact with drinking water Effectively this is the German Standard of WRAS, hence these products approved for sale throughout the EU as being 100% safe and fit for purpose.
KIWA: This is a further certification agency that also inspects the production process in relation to these products. Hence you can have confidence that they are comprehensively tested and guaranteed are fit for purpose passing all stands required for use in their intended purpose. Please follow manufacturers instructions with regards to usage. The process of obtaining this certification is expensive and lengthy, hence our prices may be slightly higher than some components purchased from some unknown factory with no QC & Product Certification.
